About Rune

I am an engineer, not a professional distiller. This project is built on testing ideas, documenting results, and refusing to repeat rules that cannot be explained.

No Rule Distiller started as hands-on engineering curiosity: how fermentation behaves under stress, how still design shifts flavor, how cuts and reflux change outcomes, and why wood does what it does over time. I learn by building, running, tasting, and measuring.

I question accepted assumptions because “this is how it is done” is not an explanation. If a claim survives practical work, it stays. If not, it gets replaced. The goal is honest understanding that helps serious distillers make better decisions.

No Rule Distiller Approach

Forget inherited answers. Build understanding from what the still actually does.

These principles are the operating system behind every chapter, trial, and argument: practical, testable, and independent.

    If a rule has no mechanism behind it, it is just repetition.

  2. Test ideas

    Run controlled experiments before you commit a full batch.

  3. Observe cause and effect

    Track variables so flavor changes have a clear reason.

  4. Respect tradition, don’t worship it

    Keep what works; challenge what survives only by habit.

  5. Learn through mistakes

    Errors are data: document, adjust, and run the next test.
